Dear LPS Families and Community Members,
We are excited to share some important news with you: Mr. Brock Thumm has been selected as the new K-12 Principal for Lawrence Public Schools.
This decision reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring a strong, stable, and supportive learning environment for all students. As we make this transition, we want to assure you that our focus remains on what matters most—supporting students, families, and staff and providing a safe environment for learning. .
Mr. Thumm brings a deep passion for education and a proven track record of service-driven leadership. He is widely recognized as an excellent communicator, a skilled problem solver, and a builder of positive school culture. Just as importantly, he is looking forward to becoming deeply engaged in and connected to our local community.
The guidance of the interview committee was reliant on the result of the community and staff survey regarding our K-12 vacancy and what qualities stakeholders value most in a school leader identified the following: someone who communicates clearly, is accessible and supportive, builds strong relationships, and manages student behavior effectively. Mr. Thumm reflects all of these qualities and is well-prepared to lead our schools with heart, purpose, and professionalism.
We are committed to open and clear communication as Mr. Thumm steps into this role, and we’re confident he will quickly become a familiar and trusted presence in the lives of our students and families.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Mr. Thumm to Lawrence Public Schools. We look forward to the leadership and care he will bring to our district, and to the continued success of our students under his guidance.
