🟣Care Closet News!🟣
The care closet is a resource for our students that provides free clothes, shoes, hygiene items and more to students who need them.
We are introducing a newly streamlined donation list, effective immediately!
Why the Change?
Ease of Use: A shorter, more focused list makes it significantly easier for us to sort incoming items and for our students and staff to find exactly what they need without digging through excessive piles.
Inclusive Sizing: We are prioritizing clothing and products that offer the most versatility. By focusing on items that serve a wide range of body shapes and sizes, we ensure that we are stocking items that can be of greatest use.
At this time we are NOT actively seeking clothing donations.
We are ALWAYS accepting hygiene donations.
As always, LPS is grateful for the generosity and kindness of our community. #GoTigers!

This is a reminder that there will be no school tomorrow. Additionally, Spring Break will take place next week.
Classes will resume on Monday, April 6.
We hope you and your family enjoy a restful and safe break.

At Lawrence High School, we believe that a student’s potential should never be limited by what’s in their closet. That’s why we are proud to host the “Professional Pod” a loaning resource designed to level the playing field for our future leaders.
Whether students are:
• Stepping into their first job interview.
• Advocating for their future in a scholarship meeting.
• Delivering a high-stakes presentation.
• Attending a networking event.
The Professional Pod is here to ensure students walk into the room with their head held high.

LPS will dismiss at the regularly scheduled time. Maintaining the regular schedule ensures that elementary students are supervised and safe at drop-off, and that high school students are not on the road without in-person parent approval.
Thank you for your patience as we make decisions with student safety as our top priority.

3-13-2026. All after school practice and events cancelled.

Please be aware that the windy weather has caused a power outage at the school. The phone lines are also down. Lunches have already been served, and the students are comfortable. Student safety is always our top priority and at this time we believe keeping students on campus is the best option.
School will continue as normal and the situation will be reassessed frequently.

LPS is proud to honor our 2026 Educational Hero Award recipients, Alma Robles and Tara Lampe!
Recipients are nominated by their coworkers and then Selected by the district. We are so proud to have these outstanding educators as part of Lawrence Public Schools! Their dedication does not go unnoticed and the impact they have is profound. Congratulations to our very deserving staff members!
"Alma Robles is a dedicated educator and proud Lawrence alumna who truly exemplifies the mission of "putting students first." Alma serves as a Kindergarten/First-grade teacher and has held various roles within the district, consistently advocating for the success and well-being of every student she encounters. Known for her flexibility and unwavering focus, Alma ensures her students receive exactly what they need to thrive. Regardless of her role, she regularly goes above and beyond to provide essential support and guidance. Her impact extends far beyond the classroom; she also serves as a Lead Administrator for the Van Buren Migrant Program, a PTO leader, and a multi-sport coach. Lawrence Public Schools is proud to recognize Mrs. Alma Robles for her multifaceted commitment to our students and community.
Tara Lampe is described by her colleagues as the "glue" that holds Lawrence Elementary together as the Student Suport Coordinator. Her work exists at the vital intersection of education and compassion, where she has dedicated years to removing barriers between students and their success. Her mission is simple: ensuring every child—regardless of circumstance—feels safe, loved, and ready to learn. By addressing survival needs first, Tara allows students to focus on their academic potential. Whether she is coordinating services for families in transition after hours or advocating for a child over the weekend, her commitment is tireless. Beyond her title, it is Tara’s spirit that defines her impact. Known for her constant smile and welcoming presence, she builds the trusting relationships necessary to ensure no child in the district goes unnoticed. With a "sweet pleasant attitude" and heart-led advocacy, Tara keeps students at the center of every decision. Her dedication has not only strengthened our school community but has changed the trajectory of countless lives. Lawrence Public Schools is a better district because of the heart and hard work of Mrs. Tara Lampe."
